Chapter 7 - Unbroken and FreeOn a clear, golden evening in late October, I stood on the stone terrace of my private waterfront home in Toronto, watching the sunset over Lake Ontario.

The sky was painted in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and gold, casting a warm, weightless light across the calm, sparkling water.

On the wooden table beside my armchair sat the small white porcelain urn painted with silver stars, surrounded by fresh white roses and a glowing candle.

The floppy-eared plush rabbit sat comfortably beside it, its ribbon rustling softly in the warm autumn breeze.

I stood near the balustrade wearing a soft cream cashmere sweater, holding a glass of sparkling water, looking out at the endless horizon.

There were no fear-filled phone calls breaking the silence. There were no arrogant promises made by a man who valued a mistress over his own blood. There were no shadows lingering in the corners of my life.

I reached out, my fingers gently brushing against the smooth porcelain of Grace's urn, feeling a quiet, eternal love that no crime boss, no prison sentence, and no distance could ever diminish.

"We did it, sweet pea," I whispered softly into the breeze, a warm, beautiful smile touching my lips. "We are safe. We are free. And no one will ever leave us behind again."

Outside the high stone gates, the world continued to spin, but standing inside the sunlit sanctuary I had built with my own hands, I knew that my life, my heart, and my freedom were finally, beautifully, and forever unbroken.
