Chapter 3 - The Arrival of the CourierAt 11:30 A.M., inside the private Royal Suite of The Peninsula Bangkok, I sat at an antique teak writing desk overlooking the river.

The hotel room had been transformed into a temporary command post.
Standing near the window were two armed Royal Thai Police officers assigned by the Ministry of Tourism, alongside Mali, who had brought fresh jasmine tea and fruit.
A quiet knock sounded at the double mahogany doors.
The Thai police officer checked the peephole before turning the brass handle.
Stepping into the suite was a tall, athletic woman in a sharp gray tailored suit, carrying an aluminum, tamper-evident diplomatic case secured by a biometric lock.
"Mrs. Morgan," the woman spoke with crisp precision, stepping across the silk rug, placing the case on the desk. "I am Agent Sarah Croft, Senior Security Executive for Sterling Private Client Services. I arrived on the ten-fifteen transport from Singapore."
Sarah pressed her thumb against the biometric scanner.
CLICK.
The heavy aluminum lid popped open smoothly.
Inside lay three items:
A PROVISIONAL U.S. DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT: Issued under my maiden name, Claire Vance, backed by emergency Department of State clearance.
AN ENCRYPTED SATELLITE SMARTPHONE: Wirelessly synced to my private trusts, featuring direct access to Sterling Security feeds.
A BLACK TITANIUM STERLING CENTURION CARD: Featuring an un-capped private credit line backed by the Vance Global Estate.
I picked up the black titanium card, feeling its cold, solid weight in my palm.
"Thank you, Sarah," I said softly, looking up into her sharp eyes. "What is the status of Ethan, Susan, and Chloe Bennett?"
Sarah pulled a sleek tablet from her coat pocket, tapping the screen to display a live satellite flight tracking map.
"Flight TG 662 departed Suvarnabhumi Airport forty-five minutes ago," Sarah reported flatly. "They are currently in transit to Tokyo Narita for their connecting flight to Chicago. However..."
A cold, razor-sharp smile touched Sarah's lips.
"They have zero idea that their connecting flight tickets from Tokyo to Chicago—which were purchased using the corporate card attached to your private trust—have just been canceled by our legal team."
I picked up the encrypted smartphone, unlocking the screen.
Displayed on the primary interface were live security feeds from the Bennett Import-Export corporate headquarters in Chicago, where four black SUVs belonging to federal asset receivers were pulling into the parking lot.
"They wanted me to figure it out myself," I murmured, watching the live footage of federal marshals slapping yellow foreclosure notices onto the glass doors of Ethan's building.
I looked at Sarah. "Where is my private jet currently grounded?"
"Don Mueang International Airport, Mrs. Vance," Sarah replied cleanly. "Your Gulfstream G650 is fueled and cleared for flight. We can have you in Tokyo before Ethan's flight touches down."
May you like
I stood up from the teak desk, smoothing the skirt of my cotton dress, my hazel eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable victory.
"Let's go to Tokyo, Sarah," I declared. "I want to be standing at the gate when my husband realizes he has no ticket home."
