Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever SovereignAt 8:30 PM, as the spring sun dipped below the Long Island horizon, painting the sky in sweeping tapestries of indigo and gold, the private terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights.

Leo raised his champagne glass toward our table, his deep baritone carrying cleanly across the quiet grounds.
"To Don Nico and Donna Nora Ferrara!" Leo toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign leaders who rebuilt our family with unbroken strength, truth, and eternal love!"
"To Nico and Nora!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
Nico raised his glass, taking a slow sip of fine wine, holding me tight against his beating heart under the vast, open sky.
The acoustic band began playing a slow, romantic melody that drifted through the quiet evening air, mixing with the gentle sound of the ocean waves crashing against the stone pier below.
Nico took my hand, guiding me out onto the center of the stone terrace under the twinkling fairy lights, sweeping my body into a smooth, effortless turn beneath the stars.
"Do you know what Marco used to say about this estate, Nora?" Nico murmured into my dark hair as we danced under the stars.
"What did he say?" I asked, looking up into his storm-gray eyes.
"He said that this house would never be complete until it had a queen who possessed more courage than the ocean," Nico revealed softly, his hand tightening around my waist. "He was talking about you."
I rested my head comfortably against his broad chest, feeling his heart beat strong and steady beneath his suit, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.
There were no abusive fathers threatening me in dark studies. There were no fake debts separating our hearts. There were no tears swallowed in quiet terror.

The frightened, abused girl was dead forever. The sovereign matriarch had claimed her throne.
And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved every inch of my body and soul, holding my head high, I knew that my life, my heart, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
