Chapter 5 - The Fall of the Ashford LegacyBy 2:00 PM that afternoon, the financial and legal landscape of New York underwent an apocalyptic restructuring.

Armed with the decrypted master drive provided by Nora and Nico, federal marshals, accompanied by agents from the United States Attorney’s Office, launched a series of coordinated raids across Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Four corrupt state judges were arrested in their chambers, two secondary crime bosses belonging to the rival Moretti syndicate were taken into custody, and Edmund Ashford’s hedge fund was permanently placed under federal receivership.
Inside the windowless holding room beneath Terminal 4, Edmund Ashford sat bound to a steel chair, his expensive suit ruined, his silver hair wild, his eyes bloodshot with pure, hopeless terror.
The heavy iron door swung open.
Nico walked inside, flanked by two armed operators, holding a thick leather folder containing the final legal asset forfeiture and criminal indictment papers.
"Edmund," Nico spoke, his deep baritone carrying an absolute, freezing authority that made the old man cringe back against his chair.
"Nico! Please!" Edmund wept pathetically, tears cutting clean tracks through the dust on his face. "Tell Nora I'm sorry! I was desperate! The Morettis forced me to do it! I'll sign over everything! Just let me live in a minimum-security facility!"
Nico set the leather folder flat onto the metal table, opening it to reveal the certified murder charges filed by the Southern District of New York.
"You aren't going to a minimum-security facility, Edmund," Nico revealed deadpan, every word dropped like a block of iron onto the concrete floorboards. "You are serving three consecutive life sentences at ADX Florence without the possibility of parole. And every asset you stole from your daughter has been legally transferred into the Nora Ashford Ferrara Charitable Trust."

Edmund let out a high-pitched, pathetic shriek of pure defeat, collapsing his head against the cold steel table as the reality of his total, permanent destruction washed over him.
Nico didn't offer another word. He turned his back on the room, walking out toward his waiting Maybach, leaving my father to face the justice he had spent thirty years evading.
