Chapter 7 - The Symphony of LightThe sun was setting over the private estate in Lake Forest—a grand, historic thirty-acre property that Julian and I had purchased together, far away from the dark memories of the old Morrison mansion.

The green lawns sloped gently down toward a private beach on Lake Michigan, where the golden evening light danced across the water like scattered diamonds.
I sat on a wide teak bench on the stone terrace, wearing a soft white linen dress, enjoying the cool summer breeze.
Julian walked out through the French doors, carrying two glasses of iced sparkling lemonade. He set the glasses on the small table and sat down beside me, wrapping his arm around my waist, pulling me close against his chest.
Nearby, in an ivory bassinet shaded by a large silk umbrella, baby Maya slept peacefully, her tiny fingers curling around her blanket.
"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Sovereign-Montgomery?" Julian whispered, pressing a soft kiss behind my ear, his hand gently resting over mine.
We had been married two weeks ago in a private ceremony on the cliffs of Big Sur—a wedding filled with laughter, light, and real promises made between equals.
"I was thinking about how quiet peace feels," I smiled, resting my head against his shoulder, looking out at the endless blue horizon. "For so long, I thought strength meant surviving pain in silence. I thought taking the high road meant enduring cruelty."
Julian tightened his grip around my waist, his dark eyes shining with profound warmth. "And what does strength mean now?"
"Strength means knowing your worth," I answered softly, turning my face to look into his dark, beautiful eyes. "It means building a fortress for the people you love, and having the courage to tear down anything that tries to hurt them."
Julian smiled—a rare, magnificent smile that warmed my whole soul. He leaned down, catching my lips in a deep, lingering kiss filled with quiet passion, safety, and a future built on solid rock.

"I love you, Cassidy," Julian murmured against my lips.
"I love you, Julian," I replied, pressing my forehead against his as the evening sun dipped below the horizon, bathing our family in a brilliant, beautiful light that no storm could ever dim.
