Chapter 3 - The Confrontation at the Grand VenetianBy 5:00 AM, the neon lights of South Beach flickered against the dark, rainy surface of Ocean Drive.

Inside the private executive lounge on the nineteenth floor of the Grand Venetian Hotel, Victoria Dudley sat in a velvet armchair, wearing a plush white hotel robe, sipping espresso from a china cup. Beside her, wearing an unbuttoned silk shirt and dark trousers, looking bored and impatient, was her twenty-six-year-old lawyer son, Lewis.

Standing near the locked mahogany doors were four broad-shouldered private guards wearing Vance Global security uniforms.

"This is an absolute outrage!" Victoria sneered, slamming her coffee cup onto the glass table. "Do you have any idea who my husband is?! My brother is a senior partner at Dudley, Vance & Cole! You cannot hold us in this room!"

Lewis pulled out his phone, tapping the screen furiously. "My signal is completely blocked! Who gave the security team authority to override the presidential suite keycards?!"

BOOM!

The heavy mahogany double doors of the executive lounge swung open.

Walking down the center aisle, flanked by Robert Vance and two senior corporate litigators carrying thick leather binders, was me.

I wore a dark, tailored coat over my simple sweater, my hands folded tightly in front of me, my hazel eyes holding a dark, freezing fury that made Lewis instinctively freeze mid-step.

Victoria’s posture instantly shifted. She assembled her usual arrogant, condescending filter, leaning back in her chair with a cold, patronizing chuckle.

"Ah, Sarah," Victoria smirked, adjusting her diamond ring. "I see you brought your ex-husband to negotiate. I assume Chloe finally came to her senses and brought the signed condo transfer papers?"

I didn't answer her with words.

I walked straight to the glass table, pulled the four-by-six high-resolution forensic photos of Chloe’s split lip, swollen face, and bloody back from my coat, and slammed them flat onto the table directly in front of Victoria’s face.

THUD!

Victoria glanced down at the photos. Her arrogant smile faltered for half a second, but she quickly masked it behind a cold, dismissive shrug.

"She had an emotional meltdown after the reception, Sarah," Victoria lied smoothly, taking another sip of espresso. "She tripped on her dress in the hallway and fell against the marble vanity. Lewis and I tried to help her, but she became hysterical and ran out. A stubborn girl needs to learn how to conduct herself in high society."

"She didn't trip, Victoria," Robert spoke.

His deep, thunderous baritone echoed through the high-ceilinged room like a rolling wave of thunder, making the heavy crystal chandeliers vibrate faintly overhead.

Robert walked up to the glass table, his tall, broad frame completely engulfing Victoria’s vision, casting a long, terrifying shadow over her chair.

"My daughter counted forty strikes," Robert revealed deadpan, every single word dropped into the quiet room like a slab of cold granite. "Delivered by you and six other women while your cowardly son stood outside the door guarding the hallway."

Lewis took a fast, aggressive step forward, his face turning bright red. "Listen here, old man! You can't prove a single thing! It's her word against ours! And as a licensed attorney in the state of Florida, I assure you—"

Robert didn't even turn his head.

He raised his right hand, making a subtle gesture to Marcus standing near the door.
