Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Emerald CrownIn late September 2027, one year after that fateful night at the gala, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Emily Carter Moretti Heritage & Family Integrity Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, holding three-month-old baby Leo in his arms, was Don Vincent Moretti.

Beside him stood Donna Emily Carter Moretti, looking breathtaking in a floor-floor dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her graceful figure, her hazel eyes glowing with complete happiness.

Around my neck hung my late father’s restored gold signet pendant.

Vincent adjusted the microphone, his deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"One year ago, I made the foolish mistake of taking off my wedding ring to play a game of business, almost losing the only woman who ever gave my life a soul," Vincent announced to the silent room, his storm-gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable emotion as he looked down at me and baby Leo. "And on that night, my brave wife stood before the world, declared her sovereign truth, shattered a traitor's conspiracy, and brought my entire world back to the light."

Vincent held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
