Chapter 7 - THE KINGDOM OF LIGHTTwo years later.

The morning sun rose over the rolling green hills of our estate in Cherry Hills, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of rose, gold, and soft amber.
The garden was quiet, save for the gentle rustle of pine trees in the morning breeze and the sweet, melodic chirping of bluebirds in the oak trees.
I stood on the wide stone terrace wearing a soft white linen robe, holding a steaming cup of herbal tea.
Behind me, the French doors opened softly.
Julian walked out onto the terrace, wearing trousers and an unbuttoned oxford shirt. He wrapped his strong, warm arms around my waist from behind, resting his chin gently on my shoulder, pressing a soft kiss against my cheek.
"Morning, beautiful," Julian whispered, his voice rich and full of warmth.
"Morning, my love," I smiled, leaning back against his chest.
From the master bedroom inside came a tiny, sweet, babbling sound—followed by soft, happy giggles.
Julian smiled, his eyes lighting up. "I think the princess is awake."
We walked back inside together to the sunlit nursery.
Sitting in her carved white wooden crib was fourteen-month-old Elena Rollins-Mercer—our daughter. She had bright, sparkling dark eyes, rosy cheeks, and a tuft of soft brown curls that matched her father's.
She looked up at us, holding up her tiny hands, giggling wildly as she bounced on her mattress.
"Mama! Dada!" she chirped happily.
I reached into the crib, lifting my daughter into my arms, pressing my face against her soft, milk-warm neck as she laughed uncontrollably, her tiny fingers clutching my collar.
Julian wrapped his arms around both of us, kissing Elena's forehead, his chest rising and falling in steady, perfect peace.
I looked down at my daughter’s face—a child who was born not out of pain or vengeance, but out of absolute, unshakeable love, truth, and freedom.
I remembered the dark, rain-soaked night three years ago—the cold 2:00 a.m. phone call, the humiliating hospital room, the locked safe in the dark office, and the grief that had threatened to swallow me whole.
That night, Kenneth thought he had broken me.
He didn't know he had merely awakened the queen.
I held my daughter tight against my heart, looking out the grand bedroom window at the sun rising over the boundless horizon.
My father's empire was safe.

My family was whole.
And my kingdom was finally complete.
