Chapter 7 - The Masterpiece of My Own MakingSix months later, the autumn air in Dallas carried the crisp, invigorating scent of change and new beginnings.

I stood on the expansive stone patio of my newly renovated penthouse overlooking downtown, holding a crystal glass of sparkling cider as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the Texas sky in vibrant strokes of amber and deep violet. My life was entirely my own again—unburdened by condescending lectures on efficiency, free from the suffocating weight of a loveless marriage, and completely sovereign over my own destiny.

Instead, it was an unknown local number, accompanied by a text message.
Unknown: Madison, please. Just five minutes of your time. I’m living in a studio apartment across town, my medical license is under formal review, and Sophia left me the moment the lawsuits hit. I was a fool. I know that now. Can we please talk?
I stared at the screen for three seconds.
I didn't feel anger. I didn't feel satisfaction. I felt nothing at all—which is the ultimate, most permanent form of closure.

The script was mine now. Every single line, every single light, every single breathtaking moment. And the show was only just beginning.
