Chapter 5 - The Trial of Harrison MorettiThree months later, the vaulted main courtroom of the United States District Court in Boston was packed to absolute capacity for the trial of United States v. Harrison Moretti.

Harrison sat at the defense table wearing a dark prison jumpsuit, his dark hair messy, his silvered temples unstyled, his arrogant, untouchable demeanor completely shattered by four months of federal detention.

I sat in the front row of the executive gallery beside Litigator Bridget Colton and Prosecutor Marcus Vance.

I wore a breathtaking, custom-tailored dark navy silk pantsuit that celebrated my recovered, radiant figure. My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.

Down on my right hand rested a simple, magnificent ten-carat emerald signet ring—the official Seal of the Bennett Family Estate.

When Chief Judge Margaret Vance called for final victim impact statements, I stood up calmly, walked to the witness podium, and adjusted the microphone.

Harrison looked at me with frantic, groveling eyes, whispering my name through chapped lips.

"Six months ago," I testified, my clear, velvet voice echoing cleanly off the marble walls, "Harrison Moretti stood in a private room and called me his personal incubator. He believed that money, fear, and political influence could steal my children and force me into silence. Today, I stand here as the legal mother and sole guardian of three healthy, thriving babies, proving that true power belongs to a mother's unbroken love."

Chief Judge Vance slammed her heavy wooden gavel down with a sharp, echoing THWACK.

The verdict was merciless and absolute:

HARRISON MORETTI: Convicted on all twenty-four federal counts. Sentenced to forty-five years in a federal maximum-security penitentiary without the possibility of early parole.

DR. JONATHAN HAYES: Sentenced to eighteen years imprisonment, his medical license permanently revoked.

CO-CONSPIRATORS (HARPER & MADISON): Indicted as co-conspirators, their private assets seized and transferred directly into The Bennett Triplets Irrevocable Trust Fund.

Harrison wept hysterical, pathetic sobs as federal marshals dragged him down the central aisle toward the dark holding cells below. He looked back once, screaming my name, but I didn't blink. I didn't flinch.

I turned my back on him forever.
