Chapter 2 - The Sanctuary of Saint JudeThe ride back to the Moretti Estate in River Forest was a silent, suffocating nightmare.

I was locked in the rear seat of Harrison's armored Maybach, flanked by two armed guards, while Harrison sat across from me, quietly sipping scotch from a crystal glass, watching my every breath with a chilling, possessive intensity.
By the time the vehicle pulled through the heavy iron gates of the estate at 4:00 PM, my contractions had intensified into a dangerous, rhythmic pattern.
Dr. Jonathan Hayes—the private fertility specialist Harrison had paid off to alter my medical records—was waiting inside the estate's private medical wing alongside four private nurses.
"Don Harrison!" Dr. Hayes gasped, rushing forward with a wheelchair as Harrison carried me out of the car. "Her heart rate is dangerously elevated! She’s entering premature labor at twenty-six weeks!"
"Stop the labor, Jonathan," Harrison ordered coldly, setting me onto the examination table. "If she delivers now, the infants won't survive the transfer protocols."
"Transfer protocols...?" Dr. Hayes blinked, sweat breaking out along his hairline as he looked at me.
"He knows I overheard everything, Doctor," I rasped out through chapped lips, clutching the edges of the medical table. "I know about the three embryos. I know about Harper and Madison. And I know you forged my signatures."
Dr. Hayes turned pale as parchment, taking a panicked step away from the table.
Harrison stepped up beside my bed. He reached down, brushing a damp lock of hair away from my forehead, his touch cold as ice.
"It doesn't matter what you know, Chloe," Harrison murmured softly. "Dr. Hayes is going to administer a mild neuro-sedative. You'll sleep for forty-eight hours. When you wake up, the labor will be suppressed, and you'll stay in this wing until delivery."
"You're a monster," I wept, tears finally spilling over my lashes. "You're a monster, Harrison!"
"I am a businessman, Chloe," he replied deadpan. "And I protect my investments."
Before Dr. Hayes could insert the sedative IV into my arm, the heavy double doors of the medical wing were thrown wide open with a violent, shattering impact!
BOOM!
Four armed federal marshals in tactical gear poured into the room, led by Chief Federal Prosecutor Marcus Vance—the one man on the East Coast who had spent ten years trying to bring down the Moretti syndicate.
Behind Marcus walked a sharp, broad-shouldered woman wearing an expensive dark suit—Bridget Colton, the top human rights litigator in the country.
"Harrison Moretti!" Prosecutor Marcus Vance bellowed, raising a federal search warrant signed by the United States District Court. "Step away from the patient!"
Harrison spun around, his jaw clenching so hard a muscle twitched in his cheek. "Marcus... what is the meaning of this illegal intrusion into my private residence?!"
"It's not an intrusion, Harrison," Bridget Colton declared smoothly, stepping past the federal marshals, holding up a certified emergency protection order. "Fifteen minutes ago, your private server at the St. Regis was breached. An encrypted audio recording of your VIP lounge conversation was uploaded directly to the Federal Bureau of Investigation."
Harrison’s face drained of every drop of color. "Who uploaded it...?"
From behind the federal marshals, a tall, elegant woman stepped forward—Elena Bennett, Harrison’s former executive secretary whom he had fired two years ago.
"I still had admin access to the St. Regis audio feeds, Harrison," Elena spoke, her voice filled with absolute, unyielding triumph. "You shouldn't have left your private server on the hotel network."

Marcus Vance stepped forward, holding heavy steel handcuffs.
"Harrison Moretti," Marcus declared. "You are under arrest for Human Trafficking, Systemic Medical Fraud, Extortion, and Conspiracy."
