Chapter 7 - The Unbreakable CrownSix Months Later.

The Mediterranean sun warmed my shoulders as I stood on the upper deck of the Seraphina, Dominic’s two-hundred-foot luxury yacht, anchored off the cliffside coast of Amalfi. The endless turquoise waters stretched out toward the horizon, sparkling like millions of crushed diamonds beneath the clear blue sky.
I was wearing a simple white silk sunhat and a flowing linen dress, holding a cool glass of fresh sparkling lemonade.
Behind me, soft footsteps sounded on the teak deck.
Dominic walked out from the shade of the bridge, dressed in a casual white linen shirt and dark trousers, looking relaxed, happy, and remarkably handsome. The tension that had carved lines around his eyes for decades was completely gone, replaced by a deep, serene peace.
He walked up behind me, wrapping his arms securely around my waist and pulling me back against his broad chest. He rested his chin softly on my shoulder, breathing in the scent of my hair.
"What are you thinking about, my love?" he asked softly.
"I was thinking about how quiet it is," I said, leaning back into his embrace, placing my hand over his on my stomach. "No phones ringing, no federal indictments, no foundation galas... just us."
"You earned this quiet, Eleanor," Dominic said, pressing a warm kiss to the side of my neck. "You running the Bellardi empire allowed me to finally step down completely. My old associates know you are in charge now. They know your word is law, and they know you are far more ruthless with financial numbers than I ever was."
I chuckled softly. "They learned quickly that I don't tolerate sloppy bookkeeping."
"They're terrified of you," Dominic smiled, his dark eyes crinkling with pride. "They call you La Contessa di Acciaio—The Steel Countess."
"Let them call me whatever they want," I replied, turning around in his arms to face him, looping my arms around his neck. "As long as they respect the family name."
"They do," Dominic said softly, his hands resting gently on the small of my back. "More than they ever did."
He looked at me for a long, silent moment, his gray eyes shining with an emotion so deep, so absolute, that it made my breath catch in my throat just like it had on the first night we met.
"I brought something for you," Dominic said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small, velvet-lined mahogany box.
"Dominic, you already gave me an estate in Capri and a building on Madison Avenue," I laughed softly. "You don't need to keep buying me gifts."
"This isn't a gift, Eleanor," he said, opening the box.
Inside sat a stunning, delicate gold bracelet, intricate and ancient, set with a single, glowing emerald in the center.
"This belonged to my mother," Dominic said, his voice dropping into a tender, quiet tone. "She gave it to my father when they built their first house in Sicily. She told him that a true king doesn't measure his wealth by his money or his territory, but by the strength of the woman standing beside him."
He lifted the delicate gold bracelet from the velvet, unclasping it, and gently wrapped it around my wrist, snapping the lock into place.
"For thirty years, I thought I was a king because men feared me," Dominic whispered, looking into my eyes. "It took a heartbroken girl in a black-tie gala asking me for a fake kiss to show me what real power actually looks like. You didn't just save yourself, Eleanor. You saved me. You gave my life meaning after I thought everything was lost."
Tears of pure, overwhelming happiness welled in my eyes, sparkling beneath the Mediterranean sun.
"I love you, Dominic," I whispered, resting my hand against his cheek, feeling the warm roughness of his skin.
"I love you, my Steel Queen," Dominic replied, his voice filled with an unbreakable, eternal devotion. "With everything I am, and everything I will ever be."
He leaned down, capturing my lips in a deep, slow kiss that tasted of ocean air, sweet lemonade, and total victory. The ocean breeze blew gently around us, carrying away the dark ghosts of betrayal, revenge, and pain, leaving behind only the solid, unshakeable foundation of a love forged in fire and crowned in steel.
I had stepped into a nightmare six months ago, expecting to fall apart. Instead, I had conquered the dark, reclaimed my life, and found the one man who would burn the world to keep me safe.

And as I held onto Dominic Bellardi beneath the bright Italian sun, I knew that our story wasn't ending.
It was only just beginning.
