Chapter 5 - The Surveillance TrapWhile Ethan sat by Hannah’s bedside, a digital war was quietly raging in the administrative wing of St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Marcus Vance, Harrell Holdings' chief legal counsel and a longtime ally of Ethan’s secret medical foundation, sat behind a temporary desk in the hospital’s secure records room. Before him glowed three separate computer monitors displaying encrypted financial wire transfers, internal security memos from Harrison Biotech, and phone records dating back five years.
The door clicked open, and Ethan walked in, his expression set like granite.
"Did you find it?" Ethan asked, leaning over the desk.
"Found it? Ethan, I found the entire blueprint of your family's corporate conspiracy," Marcus said, spinning his laptop around to show a detailed ledger. "Your mother didn't just forge bank records. Five years ago, she used a shell company registered in the Cayman Islands to funnel thirty thousand dollars into a dummy account bearing a forged signature of Hannah Parker. She used that 'evidence' to convince you that Hannah was taking bribes from a competitor."
Ethan gripped the edge of the table, his knuckles turning white. "And the proof that Hannah knew nothing about it?"
"Right here," Marcus tapped the screen. "An email chain from your mother’s personal secretary explicitly instructing the firm's legal liaison to intercept all of Hannah’s mail, block her calls to your penthouse, and ensure she was physically barred from entering the Gold Coast property. Furthermore..." Marcus paused, looking up gravely. "Your mother’s legal team filed an injunction to seize any financial aid Hannah applied for after she left. They actively tried to starve her out of the city."
"She worked double shifts in a freezing Cicero warehouse while pregnant with my children," Ethan said, his voice dropping into a dangerous, icy register. "While my mother sat in a penthouse drinking champagne."

"What are your orders?" Marcus asked, sliding a thick manila folder across the desk. "We can take this straight to federal prosecutors tonight. It’s enough to slap your mother and the board with securities fraud, conspiracy, and extortion. Harrison Biotech's stock will plummet forty percent by opening bell."
Ethan took the folder, holding it tightly against his chest. "No. Not yet. Let her think she’s winning for a few more hours. I want to watch her face when she realizes she didn't just lose a lawsuit—she lost everything."
