Chapter 4 - The Sanctuary in Gold CoastThree weeks later, the spring sun broke over the rolling green lawns of the estate in Long Island.

The seventy-acre property—once a cold, formal fortress managed by my mother's aristocratic rules—had been completely transformed into a warm, vibrant sanctuary filled with light, laughter, and blooming white roses.

The grand lawn echoed with the joyous, sweet shouts of Milo, Mason, Max, and Micah, who were running happily through the shallow grass with a golden retriever puppy I had bought them for their sixth birthday.

They wore bright yellow polo shirts and dark shorts, their dark hair flying in the fresh sea breeze, their gray-blue eyes radiant with healthy, unbroken life.

I sat on the wide marble terrace overlooking the ocean, wearing a comfortable linen shirt and dark trousers, sipping a fresh cup of coffee while reviewing architectural blueprints for the children's new private school wing.

The heavy glass doors of the terrace opened softly.

Mara walked out into the warm sunlight.

She wore a breathtaking, flowing emerald silk dress that caught the ocean breeze, her dark hair falling in glossy, healthy waves over her shoulders. Her skin was radiant, the sharp, hollow exhaustion that had carved her features three weeks ago completely erased, replaced by a quiet, unshakeable peace and happiness.

She walked up beside my chair, leaning down to press a soft, sweet kiss against my cheek before leaning her hip against the marble balustrade beside me.

"How are the school blueprints looking, Chairman Moretti?" Mara teased softly, her green eyes shining with deep, unconditional love.

I set my coffee cup down, reaching out my broad hand to wrap my fingers around her waist, pulling her flush against my side.

"They're looking perfect, Mrs. Moretti," I smiled back, resting my cheek against her soft shoulder.

Mara let out a soft, radiant laugh, turning her head to look down into my gray-blue eyes—eyes that held no dark shadows of the past, no cold distance, but a deep, eternal love that filled every corner of our home.

"Look, Dad! Mom!" Milo shouted from the lawn below, holding up a bright red ball. "Mason threw it all the way to the fountain!"

I stood up from my chair, taking Mara's hand in mine, interlacing my fingers tightly with hers, and together we walked down the stone steps into the bright, warm sunlight toward our four sons.
