Chapter 7 - The Crown UnburdenedSpring returned to Lake Geneva with an explosion of vibrant color, painting the estate grounds in brilliant shades of emerald, gold, and sapphire-blue.

The triplets—Leo, Julian, and Marcus—were six months old now. They were growing rapidly, filling the grand halls of the Sterling estate with the chaotic, beautiful sounds of infant laughter, babbling, and tiny footsteps pattering across hardwood floors.

On a warm Saturday afternoon, a grand family celebration was held on the sprawling lawn overlooking the lake.

There were no reporters, no corporate spies, and no false pretenses. Just our closest family members, trusted advisors, and friends who had loved us through the darkest storms.

I wore a flowing, midnight-blue silk dress that caught the afternoon sunlight, my hair cascading freely over my shoulders. I wasn't hiding behind an ordinary alias anymore, nor was I carrying the weight of a secret identity.

I was Victoria Sterling. Mother, executive, survivor, and master of my own destiny.

My father walked up beside me, handing me a glass of sparkling cider as we watched the boys playing on a soft picnic blanket with their grandmother.

"You know," my father said quietly, smiling as he clinked his glass gently against mine, "your grandfather would have been profoundly proud of how you handled the transition. The Q2 logistics report came in this morning. Efficiency is up thirty-four percent since we streamlined the executive board."

I smiled, taking a sip of the crisp cider. "Turns out, Dad, when you remove the dead weight from an operation, the entire empire runs a lot smoother."

He laughed—a deep, booming laugh of genuine pride.

Later that evening, after the sun dipped below the horizon and the lake transformed into a mirror reflecting the stars, I stood alone for a moment on the edge of the stone terrace.

I reached down and touched the delicate silver necklace resting against my collarbone—an antique heirloom passed down through four generations of Sterling women, symbolizing strength, resilience, and unyielding grace.

The hospital room felt like a lifetime ago. The man who had walked in holding another woman's hand, demanding I sign away my life, was now just a cautionary tale fading into the background of history.

He thought he had destroyed me.

Instead, he had simply cleared the path for me to step into my true power.

I took a deep, grounding breath of the sweet lake air, feeling the profound peace of a future that belonged entirely to my sons and me. The crown was heavy, yes—but I wore it proudly, and I would never let anyone take it from me again.
