Chapter 5 - The Gala of GlassEvelyn made her fatal mistake. Believing she had the upper hand with the CPS investigation and the media on her side, she hosted the annual Foundation Charity Gala at the city's grandest hotel. It was a calculated PR move to present herself as the pillar of the community—a grieving grandmother trying to protect her family from a grifter.

The ballroom was packed with elite guests, journalists, and city officials. Evelyn stood at the podium, a diamond necklace glittering, dabbing at her dry eyes with a silk handkerchief as she spoke about the "tragedy" of her son's manipulated state of mind.
The heavy doors at the back of the ballroom suddenly swung open.
The room fell dead silent as Liam walked in. But he wasn't alone. Walking proudly beside him, wearing a stunning, elegant emerald gown, was Sophie.
Evelyn’s face went pale. "Security! Remove them immediately!"
Liam didn't stop. He walked straight toward the podium, followed closely by two men in dark suits—federal investigators.
"There's no need for security, Mother," Liam’s voice boomed through the microphone system, carrying across the silent hall. "I brought my own."
He turned to the crowd, pulling a stack of documents from his jacket.
"For eight years, I believed my mother was my savior. Tonight, I am submitting these documents to the District Attorney. They contain proof of bribery, medical fraud, and the illegal kidnapping of an infant from a sedated, vulnerable mother."
Gasps erupted through the crowd. Camera flashes went off like lightning.
Evelyn staggered back, her composed facade completely shattering. "Liam, you are destroying your own family!"
May you like
"You destroyed this family eight years ago," Liam replied coldly. He looked at the federal agents. "She's all yours."
As Evelyn was handcuffed in front of hundreds of the city's most powerful people, stripped of her dignity and her empire, Sophie watched with quiet tears in her eyes. The nightmare was finally over.
