Chapter 6 - The Unbroken VowSerena looked up at the man who commanded empires yet trembled at the thought of losing her. She didn't pull away. Instead, she reached up and placed her hand over his trembling fingers, guiding his palm gently against her cheek.
Lucian let out a sharp, ragged breath, a single tear breaking free and sliding down his cheek—the first and only time Serena had ever seen him cry.
"You're an idiot, Lucian Moretti," Serena whispered, a faint, bittersweet smile touching her lips. "A brilliant, powerful, terrifying idiot."
Lucian’s fingers curled softly against her skin, his thumb brushing her cheekbone with reverent tenderness. "Does that mean...?"
"It means I didn't come here to hand you another set of divorce papers," Serena interrupted softly. "And it doesn't mean I'm going to pretend the past seven years didn't happen. You broke my trust, Lucian. You left me alone when I needed you most. That scar won't vanish overnight."
Lucian nodded rapidly, his eyes shining with desperate hope. "I'll spend the rest of my life earning it back, Serena. Every single day. I'll tear down every dark alliance, every dangerous tie, every shadow in my life. I'll be the man you deserved all along."
"Good," Serena said, her voice firm and unwavering. "Because starting tomorrow, you are moving into the Hudson Valley farmhouse. Not as a master, not as a mafia boss, but as a father and a husband who has to earn his family back one day at a time. No security details inside the house, no corporate boardrooms ruling your life, and no secrets. If you want us, you live in our world."

Lucian didn't hesitate for a single second. "Done. My resignation from the syndicate advisory board was signed yesterday. Duca Holdings is fully legitimized. I am yours, Serena. Entirely."
Serena stepped closer, sliding her arms around his waist and resting her head against his chest, listening to the rapid, heavy thud of his heart. For the first time in seven years, the empty chair was gone, replaced by arms that would never let go.
