Chapter 3 - The Confrontation in the StudyThe heavy oak doors opened, and two broad-shouldered men in tailored dark suits—Sal and Marcus, Adrian's chief security operators—stepped into the suite.

Pushed between them, his hands bound behind his back with heavy plastic zip-ties, was Dean Russo.

Dean was thirty-five, thick-necked, wearing a rumpled silk shirt. His face was flushed with whiskey and rage, but as his eyes landed on Adrian sitting by the fire—and then shifted to me, sitting wrapped in a cashmere blanket with my bare feet resting on a Persian rug—the color drained from his face.

"Boss?!" Dean stammered, his voice tight and breathless. "What the hell is this?! Sal dragged me out of my room at three in the morning!"

Adrian didn't stand up. He sat back in his leather chair, swirling his brandy glass, looking at Dean with the weightless, chilling indifference a predator shows to a trapped rat.

"Sal," Adrian spoke flatly. "What did you find in his room?"

Sal stepped forward, placing three items flat onto the mahogany table between them:

THE SATELLITE PHONE: A military-grade encrypted device displaying active messaging logs with an off-ledger number registered to the Falco Cartel—the Moretti family's bitterest rivals.

THE DOCK KEYCARD: A master pass for Pier 42, granting access to the high-value shipment scheduled for Friday midnight.

THE NOTEBOOK: A leather-bound pad containing hand-drawn diagrams of the Moretti estate's security camera blind spots, entry codes, and Adrian's private daily schedule.

Dean’s jaw sagged open. His knees visibly trembled against the floorboards. "Boss... listen to me! That's a setup! Somebody planted those in my quarters!"

"Planted them?" Sal countered coldly, pulling a small silver pocketknife from his coat pocket. "We found this under your mattress, Dean. The tip matches the scratches on Miss Claire's bedroom door frame."

Adrian stood up slowly.

At six-foot-two, his broad, muscular frame towered over the room, his dark tattoos gleaming beneath the warm firelight. He walked over to Dean, stopping two inches from his face.

"You touched my housekeeper," Adrian whispered, his baritone dropping into a quiet, apocalyptic register that made Dean shudder violently. "You threatened her because she wouldn't let you corner her in my kitchen. You put a knife to her door while she froze in the dark."

"Adrian... please!" Dean wept, falling onto his knees on the Persian rug, his hands thashing in his plastic bonds. "I was drunk! I didn't hurt her! I swear to God I didn't touch her!"

"You didn't touch her because she was smarter than you," Adrian corrected flatly. "She slept outside my room while you walked the hallways like a coward."

Adrian turned his head slightly toward Sal and Marcus.

"Take him to the basement facility at the docks," Adrian commanded, his tone completely devoid of mercy. "Examine every contact on that satellite phone. Find every rat linked to Falco in our organization. And ensure Mr. Russo never sets foot in Long Island again."

"No! Adrian! Please! I worked for your father!" Dean shrieked, thrashing wildly as Sal and Marcus dragged him backward through the heavy mahogany doors, his hysterical pleas fading down the long, quiet corridor.
