Chapter 7 - A New DynastySix months later, the ballroom of the Bellmont Grand looked very different than it had on that stifling summer night when my life changed forever.

There were no forced smiles, no humiliating overflow tables near the kitchen doors, and no venomous whispers from my cousin Sandra—who had long since deleted her social media accounts and moved to a remote town in Nebraska after her family's corporate empire collapsed under the weight of their association with Tyler's fraudulent schemes.

This evening, the ballroom was filled with genuine laughter, soft classical music, and glowing candlelight.

It was our wedding reception. A real one.

I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the glittering Chicago river, wearing a gown of ivory silk and lace that hugged my figure without compromise. My hair fell in soft waves over my shoulders, and the heavy platinum ring on my finger was now accompanied by a matching diamond eternity band that caught the amber glow of the chandeliers.

Lily—wearing a gorgeous, custom-made burgundy velvet dress that matched her exact specifications—was currently running around the dance floor with a slice of wedding cake, supervised by my best friend and my mother, who had finally learned what it meant to treat me with respect.

A pair of warm, strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind, pulling me back against a familiar, solid chest.

"You're quiet tonight, Mrs. Fierro," Giovanni whispered against my ear, pressing a tender kiss to the side of my neck.

I leaned back into his embrace, resting my hands over his arms. "I was just thinking about where I was sitting six months ago. Table Twelve. Thinking my life was just a series of bills, exhaustion, and broken promises."

Giovanni turned me gently in his arms so I was facing him. His amber eyes were filled with an unshakeable devotion that still managed to take my breath away every single day.

"You were surviving," Giovanni said softly, lifting my chin with his thumb. "Now, you are thriving. And nothing in this city—or this world—will ever make you small again."

I smiled, rising slightly on my tiptoes to press my lips against his.

"I know," I whispered against his mouth. "Because I married the most dangerous man in Chicago... and he happens to be completely wrapped around my little finger."

Giovanni laughed—a rich, genuine sound that belonged only to me—and pulled me flush against his heart as the orchestra swelled into our first dance. Outside, the Chicago skyline stretched endlessly into the night, bright and unbroken. And as we moved together across the polished floor, I knew that every storm in my past had simply been the path leading me home.
