Chapter 7 - The Sunrise Over the ParkTwo months later, the spring chill had given way to the warm, vibrant embrace of early summer in New York.

Central Park was a lush, sprawling carpet of emerald green beneath a sky painted in brilliant strokes of gold, amber, and violet.

I stood on the expansive private terrace of the Park Avenue penthouse, holding my daughter, Maya, against my shoulder while two nurses wheeled twin strollers carrying Leo and Ethan—whom we had legally renamed Julian—out into the warm morning air.

The babies were thriving. Their tiny frames had filled out, their lungs were strong, and their bright, curious eyes took in the world with fearless wonder.

Footsteps approached softly behind me on the stone tiles.

Damian stepped out onto the terrace, wearing a casual linen shirt, carrying a steaming mug of coffee and a small, velvet-lined box. He walked over, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of my head before standing beside me to look out over the park.

“Dr. Hayes called,” Damian said quietly, a faint smile touching his lips. “The final medical discharge papers cleared this morning. The triplets are officially one hundred percent healthy.”

“Thank God,” I breathed, leaning my head against his shoulder.

Damian reached into his pocket, pulled out the small velvet box, and opened it.

Inside rested a stunning, custom-designed platinum ring set with a brilliant, flawless diamond surrounded by three smaller emeralds representing the three miracles that had brought us together.

“I didn't buy you with a contract, Claire,” Damian said, his voice deep and steady, carrying an absolute devotion that made my heart race. “And I didn't save you out of pity. From the moment I saw your name on that hospital ledger, my world shifted on its axis.”

He turned toward me, taking my hand gently as Maya cooed softly in my arms.

“Marry me, Claire,” Damian whispered. “Let me be the father your children deserve, and let me spend the rest of my life proving to you that not all empires are built to fall.”

I looked down at the ring, then up into his gray eyes, where the cold winter storm had long since melted into a boundless, beautiful horizon.

I smiled, my heart overflowing with peace and unconditional love.

“Yes,” I whispered.

Down below, the city of New York woke up to a brilliant new day—vast, powerful, and alive with endless possibilities. The past was gone, burned to ash by the storms of yesterday. And standing here in the arms of the man who had claimed my heart, I knew our true story was only just beginning.
