Chapter 5 - The Panic in MiamiGarret froze, the ice in his glass clinking loudly against the rim. "Clearance? What are you talking about? My wife and child are outside—well, my wife is managing the property. Who authorized a moving crew?"

"According to the county clerk's office," the security manager replied, "the property was sold this morning. Deed executed, cash transfer completed, title transferred out of Audrey Reed's sole ownership to a private holding entity. "Sir, the deed was in Ms. Reed's name exclusively, backed by an ironclad prenuptial agreement," the manager said coldly. "You have no legal standing to halt the transition."
Eleanor, noticing the sudden drain of color from her son’s face, stood up sharply. "Garret, what is going on? Why do you look like you've seen a ghost?"

"Mom," Garret stammered, standing up so fast his lounge chair tipped over backward onto the patio tiles. "The house... Audrey just sold Redwood Crest."
Silence descended on the Miami terrace, heavier and colder than any Boulder rainstorm.
