Chapter 4 - The Unmasking in the CityTwo weeks after the night in the chapel, the high-rise corporate headquarters of Caruso Enterprises in downtown Chicago was the site of an emergency board assembly.

Over fifty senior directors, shipping partners, and syndicate heads gathered in the grand glass boardroom overlooking Lake Michigan.

Sitting at the head of the table, looking arrogant and confident despite the federal indictments hovering over his family, was Arthur Falco—the rival syndicate boss who had secretly partnered with Julian to manipulate the Caruso estate.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Arthur Falco announced loudly, tapping a silver pen against his glass. "With Dante Caruso compromised by internal family disputes and his brother facing federal charges, I move that Falco Logistics assume operational control of the South Shipping Terminals!"

The heavy oak doors at the rear of the boardroom swung wide open.

BOOM!

Walking down the central carpeted aisle, flanked by Marcus Vance and two broad-shouldered private security guards, was Dante Caruso. He wore an magnificent black suit, his posture tall, imposing, and sovereign.

And holding his arm, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk dress that celebrated every line of her radiant figure, was Maren Caruso.

Her dark hair was styled in glossy, elegant waves, her hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable confidence, inner peace, and sovereign grace.

Arthur Falco dropped his pen. The silver instrument rolled across the polished mahogany table, clattering against a water glass.

"Dante?!" Falco stammered, his face turning an ugly, paper-white shade of green. "What... what is the meaning of this?!"

Dante guided Maren to the chief executive chair at the head of the table, pulling it out for her with quiet, reverent respect, before standing beside her like an immovable mountain.

"Members of the board," Dante announced, his deep baritone echoing through the quiet room. "Allow me to introduce the new Executive Chairwoman of Caruso Logistics: my wife, Donna Maren Caruso."

A collective gasp swept through the fifty directors.

Maren opened a thick leather binder bound by gold seals, projecting high-definition financial audits onto the room's forty-foot presentation screens:

THE WAREHOUSE ARSON: Certified forensic reports proving Arthur Falco and Julian Caruso conspired to burn the South Terminal warehouse.

THE FORGED DEBTS: Full legal annulment of all fraudulent debt claims levied against the Bennett family estate.

TERMINATION OF LEASES: Immediate forfeiture of all Falco family shipping permits across Illinois.

Arthur Falco thrashed his hands frantically. "THAT'S FABRICATED EVIDENCE! SHE'S A NOBODY! SHE WAS A NURSE!"

Maren leaned forward, resting her hands flat against the mahogany table, looking straight into Falco's panicked eyes with absolute, weightless authority.

"I was a nurse, Mr. Falco," Maren spoke, her clear, velvet voice echoing cleanly off the glass walls. "Which means I know exactly how to cut out a infection before it kills the body."

Four armed federal marshals stepped through the side doors, holding heavy steel handcuffs.

"Arthur Falco," Lead Marshal Miller declared. "You are under arrest for Arson, Corporate Wire Fraud, and Conspiracy to Commit Extortion."

The cold steel cuffs locked tightly around Falco's wrists behind his back. He thrashed and shrieked as federal marshals dragged him out of the executive suite in total, public disgrace.
