Chapter 7 - The Unwritten CodeThree months later, the private office atop the Moretti Tower looked entirely different.

The walnut walls remained, but the heavy, archaic aesthetic had been subtly modernized. The old analog security feeds had been replaced with quantum-encrypted monitoring arrays, and on the wall where a blank space had once troubled the room, a magnificent custom-built digital chronometer ticked with absolute, flawless precision.
Amelia Reed sat at a sleek glass-and-steel workstation near the corner of the room, her fingers flying across a dual-monitor keyboard as she decoded a secure encrypted transmission coming in from an international regulatory body.
She wore a sharp, tailored navy blazer over an ivory blouse. Her blonde hair was no longer tied into a frantic, defensive bun; it fell in soft, professional waves around her shoulders. She belonged in this room. Not as a ghost, not as a hidden witness, but as an equal partner in an empire that had learned the true value of the truth.
The private elevator doors chimed softly.
Dominic stepped out into the office, carrying two steaming cups of artisanal coffee from the cafe downstairs. He walked over and placed one of the cups beside Amelia’s keyboard without breaking her concentration.
"You've been staring at that decryption matrix for three hours," Dominic noted, leaning casually against the edge of her desk. "Even your father took coffee breaks."
Amelia stopped typing, leaning back in her ergonomic chair and taking a grateful sip of the coffee. "It’s not a standard cipher, Dominic. It’s a multi-layered linguistic puzzle. Whoever wrote this protocol studied under the exact same academic circle my father did in Geneva."
"Can you crack it?" Dominic asked, his gaze lingering on her face with a warmth that had nothing to do with business and everything to do with the life they were building together.
Amelia smiled, a bright, confident expression that lit up the entire room. "Give me ten minutes."
Dominic chuckled, stepping away from her desk to walk over to the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bustling Manhattan streets below. The city was alive, vibrant, and free of the hidden rot that had poisoned it for so long.
He looked back over his shoulder at the brilliant young woman who had walked into his Sapphire Dining Room as an invisible waitress and had ended up rewriting his entire world.

Some codes were meant to be hidden in the dark. But the best ones—the ones written on courage, truth, and unyielding loyalty—were meant to be shared in the light of day.
And as Amelia typed the final keystroke that unlocked the encrypted file, the room filled with the quiet, steady rhythm of a future that neither of them would ever have to run from again.
