Chapter 6 - The Festival of SunshineIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in New York was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Emma Moretti Pediatric Neurological Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, medical specialists, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Lorenzo Moretti. His broad six-foot-three frame was squared, his severe, handsome face radiating an unshakeable, sovereign authority and a profound, radiant peace.

Beside him stood sixteen-month-old Emma, looking like a little angel in a sage-green silk princess dress, holding her favorite gray bunny.

And standing on Lorenzo’s right, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated my tall, graceful figure, holding Lorenzo's hand with a warm, unbreakable grip, was me.

Lorenzo adjusted the microphone, his deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"One year ago, I was a man dying in the dark, trapped behind chemical walls," Lorenzo announced to the silent room, his gray eyes shining with deep, genuine pride as he looked down at Emma and me. "And then a tiny angel walked into my room, took my hand, and sang You Are My Sunshine... bringing me straight back to life."

Lorenzo held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
