Chapter 4 - The Shadow Over SiennaWhile Dominic dismantled Grant’s corporate empire from the top down, Sienna Kingsley—now legally Mrs. Kingsley for less than three days—was discovering that living in a gilded cage was far more terrifying than living outside it.

The penthouse on Fifth Avenue, once my sanctuary and later Sienna’s trophy, felt less like a home and more like a mausoleum. The floor-to-ceiling windows looked out over Central Park, but the views offered no comfort. Her phone had been buzzing nonstop for forty-eight hours—text messages from society friends canceling lunch dates, interview requests from tabloid reporters camping out in the lobby, and furious voice notes from Grant’s mother demanding to know how she could have been so blind to Claire’s secret pregnancy.
Sienna paced across the imported Italian marble floor, her silk robe rustling in the empty hallway.
“It’s fine,” she muttered to herself, her hands shaking as she poured a glass of vodka from the crystal decanter on the wet bar. “Grant has money. He has lawyers. Moretti can’t just steal a multi-billion-dollar company over a personal feud.”
She took a sharp gulp of the liquor, coughing as it burned her throat.
Suddenly, the private elevator chime echoed through the penthouse foyer.
Sienna froze. Grant wasn't due back from downtown until evening. The board meeting was supposed to last all day.
“Grant?” she called out, stepping toward the grand foyer. “Is that you?”
The heavy oak door swung open, but it wasn't Grant.
It was a woman in a sharp navy Chanel suit, carrying a thick leather folio. Behind her stood two uniformed building security guards and a process server holding an official court-sealed envelope.
“Mrs. Sienna Kingsley?” the woman asked, her voice entirely devoid of warmth.
Sienna clutched her glass tighter, her knuckles turning white. “Who are you? What is the meaning of this? You can't just walk into a private residence—!”
“I am lead counsel for Moretti Family Holdings,” the attorney interrupted smoothly, stepping past Sienna into the expansive living room without waiting for an invitation. She signaled to the process server, who stepped forward and handed the thick envelope directly to Sienna’s chest.
“What is this?” Sienna whispered, staring down at the gold-embossed seal.
“That is a freeze order on all joint marital assets, secondary trust accounts, and luxury vehicle titles associated with Grant Kingsley,” the attorney replied, opening her folio and pulling out a second set of documents. “Furthermore, forensic accounting audits have revealed that during your tenure as Mr. Kingsley’s executive assistant, several corporate expense accounts were systematically drained to fund personal luxury purchases—including your wedding dress, your engagement ring, and the deposit for your reception at The Plaza.”
Sienna’s face drained of every drop of color. The glass slipped from her fingers, shattering against the marble floor, amber liquid and shards of crystal splashing across her bare feet.
“That’s—that’s a lie,” Sienna choked out, backing away until her spine hit the glass wall overlooking the park. “Grant approved those expenses! We were engaged!”

“Mr. Kingsley approved them using corporate funds under false ledger classifications,” the attorney stated calmly. “Which means you are now a named co-defendant in a federal wire fraud and embezzlement investigation. You have forty-eight hours to vacate this property. All personal items will be inspected by federal marshals before removal.”
The attorney turned toward the elevator, leaving Sienna alone in the silent, crumbling wreckage of her stolen life.
