Chapter 5 - The Architect of FreedomThe fallout from Cassian’s midnight stunt hit the morning news cycle with the explosive force of a tactical strike. By 9:00 AM, the financial markets opened to a flurry of shifting stock values as Vescari Shipping absorbed several vulnerable Lisandra coastal properties that Alaric Lisandra had suddenly put up for emergency liquidation.

I sat at the breakfast bar in Roman’s penthouse, sipping hot black coffee while scrolling through a digital tablet detailing the corporate restructuring.
"Your father called thirty minutes ago," Roman said, walking into the kitchen holding a mug of his own. He wore a crisp white button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking remarkably relaxed for a man whose corporate empire was currently waging financial war against two major syndicates.
My heart skipped a beat. "What did he want?"
"He didn't yell," Roman smiled faintly, leaning against the counter across from me. "Alaric doesn't waste energy on shouting. He wanted to negotiate terms. He realizes that by breaking off the Valtieri alliance, you’ve inadvertently created a massive antitrust loophole that allows my company to acquire his southern shipping terminals at a discount."
"And what did you tell him?" I asked, lowering my tablet.
"I told him that his daughter is no longer a negotiable asset," Roman replied steadily. "I told him that if he wants to talk business, he can schedule an appointment through my legal team like everyone else. And if he ever tries to pressure you again, I'll bankrupt his primary overseas holdings by Friday afternoon."
I stared at him, a profound sense of awe washing over me. For my entire life, men like my father and Cassian had treated me like a fragile glass vase to be placed on a shelf where it looked pretty and served a diplomatic purpose. Roman treated me like an equal across a war room table.

"You really enjoy dismantling my family's empire, don't you?" I teased, a small, genuine smile breaking across my face for the first time in years.
"I enjoy watching a brilliant architect reclaim her blueprint," Roman corrected softly, his dark eyes holding mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. "You designed half of your family’s commercial warehouse layouts before your father locked you out of the corporate accounts. It’s time you ran your own company, Elena."
