Chapter 5 - The Forensic Autopsy(Focus: The dramatic court hearing where Julian attempts to claim half of Amelia's wealth; Amelia’s team delivers a masterclass in asset protection.)

The federal courtroom was packed to maximum capacity. Journalists from every major financial and entertainment outlet lined the gallery, their pens poised over their legal pads. Julian Grant sat at the defense table, looking haggard, his skin yellow under the harsh fluorescent lights.

His new defense attorney, a notorious white-collar specialist hired using the last of Julian's hidden family funds, stood up to address the judge.

"Your Honor," the attorney argued, pointing to a massive stack of financial ledgers. "While my client acknowledges mistakes were made in his personal life, the state’s equitable distribution laws are clear. Marital assets acquired during a twelve-year marriage must be divided equally. Mrs. Grant's personal trust fund was comingled with Grant Enterprises' accounts on over forty separate occasions. Therefore, Mr. Grant is legally entitled to 50% of the Vance family holdings acquired during that timeframe—amounting to nearly four hundred million dollars."

Julian leaned forward in his chair, a desperate, predatory glint returning to his eyes. He believed that even if his reputation was dead, my family's wealth would still provide him with a luxurious golden parachute.

My attorney, Daniel, didn't look worried. He stood up smoothly, adjusting his spectacles, and walked to the center of the courtroom with a single, sleek USB drive.

"Your Honor," Daniel began, his voice calm and melodic. "We agree that comingling occurred. However, we are presenting a complete forensic audit of every single transaction Mr. Grant executed over the last decade."

He plugged the drive into the court system, and a massive, color-coded spreadsheet filled the large projection screens.

"Every single dollar transferred from the Vance Trust into Grant Enterprises was structured as a secured corporate loan, signed by Julian Grant himself during his late-night emergency funding requests," Daniel revealed. "Furthermore, we have mapped the destination of those funds. Over eighty million dollars was diverted directly into offshore shell corporations to fund luxury real estate purchases for his mistresses, including Miss Serena Vale. Under New York law, this constitutes egregious wasteful dissipation of marital assets."

The judge frowned, leaning forward to study the transactional lines. "Mr. Vance, are you stating that the defendant actually owes the plaintiff money?"

"Exactly, Your Honor," Daniel smiled, flipping to the final summary page. "After factoring in the interest on the secured loans, the liquidated damages for corporate espionage, and the total value of the stolen Vance estate heirlooms, Mr. Julian Grant doesn't have an asset claim. He currently owes the Vance Estate a grand total of one hundred and twenty-four million dollars."

A loud murmur erupted throughout the gallery. Julian stood up so fast his chair flew backward against the wooden railing. "That's a lie! She's manufacturing the data! She approved those transfers! She loved me!"

"Sit down, Mr. Grant!" the judge barked, slamming her gavel down with absolute authority. "The financial records are immaculate and certified by federal auditors. This court denies the defendant’s motion for asset distribution. In fact, we are issuing a summary judgment attaching a permanent lien against all of Mr. Grant's future earnings, properties, and pensions globally until the Vance debt is paid in full."

Julian collapsed back onto the floor, staring at the screen as his entire financial future was systematically dismantled. He had wanted my money. Instead, he had become a permanent debtor to the woman he had tried to break.
