Chapter 7 - The Crown We Wear TogetherThe annual Winter Gala at The Velvet Crown was the most exclusive night of the year in New York City. Judges, senators, billionaires, and high-society elites filled the grand ballroom, draped in diamonds and silk, speaking in hushed, respectful tones.

But tonight, the atmosphere was entirely different.

Standing at the top of the grand marble staircase in a custom gown of midnight-blue silk that shimmered under the crystal chandeliers, I looked out over the glittering room. On my arm stood Adrien Viscari, no longer just the feared mafia boss of Manhattan, but a legitimate shipping tycoon and philanthropist presiding over a newly forged alliance of power and justice.

As we descended the staircase together, the whispers of the crowd weren't filled with fear, but with awe. We stopped on the floor, surrounded by people who once would have looked down on me or treated me as disposable. My mother’s empire had been restored, my scars had been transformed into armor, and the ghosts of the past had finally been laid to rest in the ashes where they belonged.

Adrien lifted a crystal glass of champagne, his dark eyes shining with unwavering devotion as he looked down at me before addressing the room.

"To new beginnings," Adrien announced, his voice ringing clear and strong across the ballroom. "And to the women who walk through the fire and emerge wearing the crown."

As the crowd raised their glasses and the orchestra swelled with triumphant music, I smiled, slipping my hand firmly into Adrien’s. The fire had tried to destroy me, but it had only forged the woman who now owned the city. And for the first time in my life, I was exactly where I belonged.
