Chapter 5 - The Fall of Richard MillerRight on cue, heavy, deliberate footsteps echoed across the wooden deck entrance.

Stepping onto the terrace, flanked by four uniformed Miami Police officers and two Federal Marshals, was Detective Ethan Cole.

"Richard Miller?" Detective Cole announced flatly, pulling a gold-badged leather holder from his coat.

Richard backed toward the balcony rail, his eyes darting frantically between Arthur, the police officers, and me. "WHAT IS THIS?! I AM A RESPECTED BUSINESS OWNER IN FORT LAUDERDALE!"

"You were a business owner, Mr. Miller," Detective Cole corrected deadpan. "You are currently under arrest for Felony Forgery, Extortion, Attempted Grand Larceny, and Fraud against the Estate of Mark Miller."

CLICK. CLICK.

Heavy steel handcuffs locked tightly around Richard Miller’s wrists behind his back.

"ARGH! ANNA! TELL THEM TO STOP!" Richard shrieked, his arrogant composure shattering into total, groveling panic as he was forced down onto his knees right on the terrace floorboards before my shoes. "I WAS CRAZY! I'LL FORGIVE THE DEBT! I'LL GIVE YOU THE MECHANIC SHOP! JUST DON'T LET THEM PUT ME IN PRISON!"

I walked over, stopping two feet from my late husband's abusive brother.

I looked down at him with quiet, weightless coldness—the coldness of a mother who had survived two years of terror and was finally, permanently free.

"Mark always knew you were a coward, Richard," I spoke softly, my voice clear, steady, and unbroken. "Now... the whole world knows."

Detective Cole hoisted Richard up by his collar, dragging him out through the terrace exit in heavy chains, while his two bodyguards fled down the stairs like beaten dogs, surrounded by news cameras that had gathered outside the restaurant gates.

The terrace fell quiet once more, leaving only the soft hum of the ocean breeze and the steady, peaceful rhythm of the crashing waves.

Arthur stepped beside me, gently resting his broad, warm hand against the small of my back, offering an absolute sanctuary that made my soul weep with relief.

"You are safe now, Anna," Arthur promised gently. "He will never hurt you or Tyler again."
