Chapter 7 - Dawn Over the ValleySpring returned to the Cuyahoga Valley with a burst of vibrant green life, melting the last remnants of winter snow into sparkling streams that danced down the hillsides.

The heavy steel shutters of the mountain cabin were permanently thrown open, letting the warm, fragrant spring breeze fill every corner of the rustic home.

Joanna stood on the wide wooden porch, holding a six-month-old baby Logan in her arms as he giggled and reached out with chubby hands to catch the floating dandelion seeds dancing in the morning air. His striking hazel eyes sparkled with life, mirroring the infinite promise of a brand-new day.

Behind her, footsteps creaked softly across the wooden floorboards.

Dr. Robert Wright stepped out onto the porch, holding two steaming mugs of coffee. He looked completely transformed from the shattered man who had stumbled into a hospital delivery room months ago. Retirement agreed with him, but more importantly, watching his grandson grow up had given him a second chance at life.

He handed a mug to Joanna, smiling warmly as little Logan immediately grabbed onto his finger with a powerful, stubborn grip.

"Strong grip," Dr. Wright chuckled, his voice rich with affectionate pride. "Definitely a Wright family trait. Though hopefully, with a much better sense of direction than his father."

Joanna laughed softly, leaning her head against the older man’s shoulder. "He's his own person, Robert. And he's going to be just fine."

"Yes, he is," Dr. Wright agreed quietly, looking out across the endless, sunlit valley stretching out before them.

The road had been long, terrifying, and marked by immense heartbreak. But as the morning sun crested over the mountain peaks, casting a golden, radiant glow over the three of them, Joanna knew that the darkest chapters of her life were firmly closed. Her son was safe, her future was secure, and the love they shared had built an unbreakable fortress that nothing could ever tear apart.
