Chapter 5 - The Naked TitanFive minutes later, the heavy sound of wet bare feet slapping against the marble staircase echoed through the silent house.

Julian descended the stairs.

He was wearing a dark blue silk bathrobe tied tightly around his waist, his wet hair plastered to his forehead, his face pale, gaunt, and dripping with sweat. Behind him, flanked by Arthur’s security guards, crept Mia. She was wearing an oversized grey sweatshirt she had pulled from Julian’s closet, her eyes swollen red from crying, her whole body shaking like a leaf in an autumn wind.

Julian reached the living room, his furious glare fixing on me before taking in the scene: his mother trembling by the fireplace, his sister pale and crying, his uncle sitting collapsed on an armchair, and Arthur Sterling standing beside a mountain of impounded corporate ledgers.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Julian demanded, his voice cracking with a mixture of rage and terror. "Harper, you locked me in a steam room for two hours! I could have suffered heat exhaustion! I am calling the police!"

"Call them, Julian," I said, sitting back down on the leather sofa, crossing my legs with complete composure. "Please. Dial nine-one-one. Tell the officers that your wife locked you in a bathroom after catching you in a jacuzzi with your housekeeper, while federal agents outside impound your forty-million-dollar company for grand larceny."

Julian froze. His eyes darted to Arthur, then down at the scattered Apex Holdings papers lying on the rug at Richard’s feet.

The realization hit him like a physical blow. The color drained completely from his face, leaving him looking hollowed out, stripped of every ounce of his arrogant, corporate swagger.

"You... you opened the safe?" Julian rasped, his chest heaving beneath his bathrobe.

"I didn't just open the safe, Julian," I replied smoothly. "I audited it. Every single offshore transfer, every forged waiver, every secret email between you and your family discussing how you were going to strip my family’s trust once the Apex transfer closed."

Mia let out a small, terrified sob from the hallway. "Julian... you told me she didn't know anything! You told me she was stupid!"

Julian didn't even look at her. His eyes were locked on me, searching my face for a single flicker of the soft, devoted wife he had taken for granted for ten years.

"Harper..." Julian began, his voice dropping an octave, stepping toward the sofa, his hands reaching out in a desperate, pleading gesture. "Harper, please. Listen to me. The business... the Apex transfers... that was Richard’s idea! He convinced me we needed an offshore cushion against market volatility! And Mia—Mia meant nothing to me! It was just a stupid, meaningless distraction because I was stressed!"

Beatrice’s head snapped toward her son, her dark eyes flashing with sudden, venomous shock. "Julian! How dare you blame your uncle and your mother?!"

"Shut up, Mom!" Julian screamed, turning on his mother with wild, feral desperation. "You pushed me to sign those transfers! You told me Harper was weak and that her father’s trust belonged to us!"

"You cowardly swine!" Natalie shrieked, lunging at her brother, grabbing his bathrobe collar. "You brought that little maid into the house! You ruined everything with your stupid arrogance!"

I sat on the leather sofa, watching the Caldwell family tear each other apart like starving wolves in a cage.

There was no dignity left in them. No corporate polish, no high-society arrogance, no united front. The moment their stolen money was cut off, their fragile, parasitic bonds disintegrated into pure, ugly savagery.

"Arthur," I said quietly, rising from my seat. "Have the security team escort Mr. Caldwell, his family, and Miss Mia off my property immediately."

"Your property?!" Julian roared, pulling away from his sister, pointing a trembling finger at the floor. "This is my house! My name is on the deed!"

May you like

"Check the deed, Julian," I replied coldly, walking toward the grand front doors. "The estate was purchased through the Vane Family Real Estate Holding Corp. Your name was removed from the property title eighteen months ago when you defaulted on your personal collateral guarantees. You own nothing in this house. Not the furniture, not the cars in the garage, and certainly not the clothes on your back."

Julian stared at me, his mouth working silently, utterly paralyzed by the absolute, flawless destruction of his entire world.
