Chapter 7 - The Unbroken LightSix months later, the spring sun broke warmly over the manicured rose gardens of the River Forest estate.

The four-million-dollar stone mansion hummed with a quiet, vibrant peace.

The dark shadows of Celeste, Grant, and Blake were gone forever—Grant and Celeste were serving life sentences without the possibility of parole at a federal maximum-security penitentiary, while Blake worked as a clerk in Milwaukee to pay off his secondary legal debts.

On the sunlit stone terrace overlooking the green lawns, a small, beautiful marble shrine had been constructed beneath an ancient oak tree.

Inside the polished white marble urn rested my mother's and father's ashes—reunited, protected, and resting in peace forever under the open sky.

I stood on the terrace wearing a simple cream silk dress, holding a cup of warm chamomile tea, looking out at the gardens.

My dark hair fell in healthy waves over my shoulders, my skin radiant, my posture holding the absolute, unshakeable sovereignty of a woman who had survived the dark and reclaimed her home.

Marianne Vale walked out through the french doors, wearing a elegant linen suit, handing me a leather file.

"The final probate transfer of the Edward and Nora Vance Charitable Trust was completed this morning, Nora," Marianne smiled warmly. "Your father's legacy is fully protected."

I took a slow sip of my tea, looking out at the white roses blooming around my parents' shrine, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.

"Thank you, Marianne," I whispered softly.

I reached into my pocket, pulling out the small brass key that my grandfather had given me four years ago.

The tiny key caught the bright spring sunlight, gleaming with a pure, unbroken light that would last a lifetime.

I had been left in the rain. I had been forced onto my knees. But standing in the light of my own home, surrounded by the love of my parents, I knew that my life, my name, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever my own.
