Chapter 4 - The Unmasking of the MistressWhile Brendan and Diane were being formally served with corporate fraud notices inside Bennett Tower, Jessica sat inside the high-end Gold Coast beauty salon where she spent five thousand dollars a week on my ex-husband’s corporate card.

She sat in a plush leather chair, a glass of mimosa in her hand, complaining loudly to her stylist.
"Honestly, Brendan is being so dramatic today," Jessica sneered, looking at her nails. "His card had a tiny glitch last night at the hotel, but he's picking me up in his sports car at twelve to buy my new Chanel bag—"
BOOM!
The glass double doors of the salon were pushed open.
Two uniformed officers from the Cook County Sheriff's Department stepped inside, flanked by a repo team holding high-definition asset recovery warrants.
"Jessica Hayes?" Deputy Miller called out flatly.
Jessica frowned, setting her mimosa down. "Yes? Who wants to know?"
"We are executing a court-ordered Civil Asset Seizure Warrant under Case Number 2026-CF-908," Deputy Miller declared, pulling open a folder. "All items purchased using funds from Morrison Global Accounts between January 2026 and October 2026 are subject to immediate repossession."
The repo team didn't hesitate.
THE JEWELRY: They requested the immediate surrender of her four-carat diamond ring, her Cartier bracelets, and her Rolex watch.
THE VEHICLE: Outside on the curb, a flatbed tow truck lifted her brand-new custom Porsche Cayman—which Brendan had bought her three weeks ago using employee pension funds—onto the bed.
THE APARTMENT: A formal twenty-four-hour eviction notice was served on her luxury high-rise apartment in River North, which was owned directly by Bennett Heritage Trust.
"WHAT IS THIS?!" Jessica screamed, thrashing her arms as stylists and wealthy salon clients pulled out their phones, video-recording her total, public downfall. "BRENDAN IS A BILLIONAIRE! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!"

"Mr. Morrison is currently in federal custody facing fourteen counts of corporate embezzlement, Miss Hayes," Deputy Miller informed her deadpan. "And the actual owner of your apartment, Mrs. Cassidy Bennett, has authorized immediate execution of all lease terminations."
Jessica’s face turned an ugly, paper-white shade of green. The mimosa glass slipped from her fingers, shattering flat against the tile floor, splashing orange juice across her designer shoes as she wept in total, public disgrace.
