Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Golden SunIn late September 2026, nine months after that terrible night, the grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Grace Rossi Maternal & Civic Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke tuxedo, my broad six-foot-four frame squared, my handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was me.

Beside me stood Donna Grace Rossi, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk gown, holding nine-month-old Leo, who giggled happily as he reached for my silver signet pendant.

And standing beside the stage were Bridget Colton, Marcus Vance, and close operational allies.

I adjusted the microphone, my deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Nine months ago, I returned home to a cold house, told that the woman I loved had abandoned me," I announced to the silent room, my gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable emotion as I looked down at my family. "And on that night, I learned that true strength isn't about ruling an empire... it is found when a brave woman carves the truth into a dark wall to bring her family back to the light."

I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To Grace!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
