Chapter 6 - The Festival of LightIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Bennett Twins Pediatric & Maritime Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated my tall, graceful figure, was me.
Around my neck hung my late mother's vintage pearl necklace, my dark hair falling in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.
Beside the stage stood ten-year-old Leo and Lily, looking like a little prince and princess, while Marcus Vance stood at my side in an elegant charcoal bespoke tuxedo.
I adjusted the microphone, my clear, velvet baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Ten years ago, I walked out of a banquet room after a man refused to acknowledge my name," I announced to the silent ballroom, my voice filled with deep, genuine pride. "And on that night, I learned that true royalty isn't given by a husband's title... it is claimed when a woman stands tall, protects her children, and builds her own kingdom."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
"To truth, independence, and unbroken family!"

"To Claire!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
Standing in the shadow of the rear balcony, uninvited and unnoticed by the crowd, stood Alexander Moretti. He wore a black tuxedo, his face gaunt, holding a single white orchid in his hand. He watched me from the dark, tears silently tracking down his face, realizing that the queen he had discarded was now an unshakeable, sovereign monarch who would never need his shadow again.
