Alexander took two panicked steps backward against the presentation stage, his hands trembling violently as he stared at the financial ledgers displaying his secretary's theft.
"Sophia...?" Alexander rasped, turning his head slowly toward the woman he had spent ten years elevating. "You... you stole her settlement...?"
"Alexander, darling, listen to me!" Sophia shrieked, falling flat onto her knees on the marble floorboards, grabbing at the hem of his trousers. "I did it for us! She didn't deserve your wealth! She was nobody!"
"She was my wife!" Alexander thundered, a raw, feral roar ripping from his chest that made even his capos flinch. He kicked his leg back, tearing his trousers from her grip, staring down at her with an absolute, weightless disgust. "I spent ten years believing she took the money and abandoned me!"
Bridget Colton—senior managing partner of Colton & Vance International, who had walked up beside me—stepped forward with a stack of court-stamped legal notices:
CRIMINAL INDICTMENT: Federal warrants served on Sophia Reynolds for Interstate Wire Fraud, Grand Larceny, and Embezzlement.
ASSET FORECLOSURE: Immediate freezing of all real estate, luxury vehicles, and bank accounts registered under Sophia Reynolds and her daughter, Isabella.
CORPORATE SEIZURE: Enforcement of the Bennett Maritime Trust's fifty-one percent controlling equity, revoking Alexander Moretti’s operational authority over Moretti Global.
Lead Marshal Miller stepped forward from the rear doors, locking heavy steel handcuffs around Sophia Reynolds’s wrists behind her back.
"Sophia Reynolds," Marshal Miller declared coldly. "You are under arrest."

Sophia thrashed and wept hysterical, pathetic pleas as marshals dragged her out of the Grand Venetian Ballroom in total, public disgrace, while news cameras captured her complete downfall for the midnight news.
Isabella thrashed in panic, weeping tears of embarrassment as her private accounts were frozen on the spot, leaving her standing alone in her silver dress.
Alexander slowly fell onto his knees flat on the carpeted stage, looking down at the floor, tears streaming down his face as he looked across the room at the ten-year-old twins he had never held, never raised, and never known.
"Claire..." Alexander wept, his voice cracking wide open. "Leo... Lily... please..."
