Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeAt 8:30 PM, the private terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights strung through the oak trees.

The three boys ran up the stone steps, throwing their small arms around Gabriel's legs and my waist.
Gabriel dropped onto his knees flat on the stone floorboards, pulling all three of his sons into his broad chest, kissing their foreheads one by one as they giggled happily.
"Daddy!" Leo chimed brightly, pointing toward the sky. "Look! The fireworks are starting!"
Across the dark, sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan, brilliant bursts of gold, green, and silver light exploded into the night sky, illuminating the smiling faces of our guests gathered on the lawn below.
Gabriel stood up, keeping his broad arm wrapped securely around my waist, pulling me and our three sons close against his solid frame.
He reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a small velvet box, opening it flat before me.
Inside sat a small gold necklace holding a delicate platinum pendant engraved with four names: CLAIRE, LEO, JULIAN & MATEO.
Tears of pure, weightless joy welling in my eyes, I reached out, tracing my fingers over the engraved names, looking up into his dark, loving face.
"I had it crafted by the finest jeweler in Milan, Claire," Gabriel revealed softly, his storm-gray-green eyes burning with an eternal, unshakeable devotion. "So that our family's name will never be broken again."
I threw my arms around his neck, pulling his handsome face down to mine in a deep, passionate, unhurried kiss that sealed our future forever under the twinkling stars.
"I love you, Gabriel," I whispered against his lips.

"I love you, Claire," Gabriel swore back, his deep baritone carrying the weight of an absolute, unbroken covenant. "Forever and always."
Standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved every inch of my body and soul, holding my three sons safe in our hands, I knew that my life, my heart, and my family were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
