Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Emerald ShieldIn late September 2026, one year after that horrifying night in Greenwich, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Emily Bennett-Moretti Heritage & Domestic Justice Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

On a private velvet pedestal near the presentation podium rested a beautifully framed piece of white silk—a symbol of sovereign victory and unbroken grace.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was Don Vincent Moretti.

Beside him stood Donna Emily Bennett-Moretti, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her graceful, fully healed figure, her hazel eyes glowing with complete happiness.

Around my neck hung my late grandmother’s restored gold signet pendant.

Vincent adjusted the microphone, his deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"One year ago, an arrogant coward smashed a dinner plate over my daughter's head, while his corrupt mother smiled and told the world nobody would believe her," Vincent announced to the silent room, his storm-gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at me. "And on that night, a brave queen stood before twenty traitors, used their own trap against them, claimed her sovereign birthright, and brought my entire world back to the light."

Vincent held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To Emily!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
