Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Emerald PhoenixIn late September 2026, ten months after that fateful night at the Plaza, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Vivian Bennett Phoenix & Integrity Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk backless gown that celebrated her radiant, courageous figure, was Donna Vivian Bennett-Ashford.
Around her neck hung her late father’s restored silver signet pendant, her dark hair falling in glossy waves over her shoulder, her hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.
Beside the stage stood Bridget Colton and Marcus Vance.
And standing on her right, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was Gideon Ashford.
Gideon stepped up to the microphone beside me, wrapping his broad, warm arm securely around my waist, his deep baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Ten months ago, a ruthless coward tried to humiliate the bravest woman in New York by making her expose her burn scars," Gideon announced to the silent room, his storm-gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at me. "And on that night, she walked into this room, bare-backed and unbroken... and showed the entire world how a queen wears her sacrifice like gold."
Gideon held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my Chairwoman, my savior, and the queen of my heart: Donna Vivian Bennett-Ashford!"
"To Vivian!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
