Chapter 6 - The Studio in SohoSix months later, the spring sun shone brightly over the cobblestone streets of Soho.

My new interior design studio, Bennett & Associates, was celebrating its grand opening. The wide, sunlit gallery was filled with fresh white roses, modern architectural furniture, and dozens of high-profile clients, art dealers, and press reporters.

I stood near the panoramic glass front window, wearing an elegant ivory silk jumpsuit, holding a glass of sparkling water, laughing warmly with Marcus Vance and my lead design team.

I looked radiant, healthy, and completely whole. The dark, suffocating shadows of my past had vanished, replaced by a quiet, unshakeable confidence that shone in everything I created.

Marcus raised his glass toward me with a bright, proud smile. "To Chairwoman Claire Bennett. The most sought-after designer in Manhattan."

"To new beginnings, Marcus," I smiled back, clinking my glass against his.

A young assistant walked over, holding a small, beautifully wrapped package delivered by courier ten minutes earlier.

"Miss Bennett," the assistant said softly. "This just arrived for you from Boston."

I set my glass down and unwrapped the package.

Inside was a simple, handcrafted wooden frame containing a vintage architectural sketch of the coastal house in Maine, alongside a small, handwritten note written in familiar, precise cursive:

Congratulations on your opening, Claire.

The house on the coast is finished. The windows look out over the ocean, exactly as you envisioned.

You built a beautiful life. I am proud to have known you.

I touched the smooth glass of the frame, a quiet, gentle smile touching my lips.

There was no pain left in my heart. No lingering regret. Just the quiet, sacred peace of a woman who had reclaimed her own name, her own voice, and her own future.
