Chapter 6 - The Counter-Offensive

By Monday morning, I was no longer playing defense.
I didn't go to the Nexo Urbano office. Instead, I drove directly to the high-security downtown offices of Moraes & Associates, the most feared corporate litigation and investigative law firm in Brazil, headed by Dr. Sérgio Moraes—a legendary litigator who had spent forty years tearing corrupt industrial dynasties limb from limb.
Dr. Moraes sat behind his mahogany desk, casually flipping through the printed forensic hardcopy of the Project Phoenix dossier I had slid across his desk. His expression, usually cynical and unimpressed, grew darker with every page he turned.
"Incredible," Dr. Moraes murmured, taking off his wire-rimmed glasses and rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Marcelo Vance has spent forty years operating in the shadows, destroying competitors through proxies, shell companies, and manufactured scandals. But nobody has ever managed to pierce his inner corporate veil. How did you get this?"
"My husband was arrogant enough to keep a digital diary," I replied smoothly, leaning back in my leather chair. "And too stupid to realize his masters left their master keys on his server."
Dr. Moraes let out a low, appreciative chuckle, sliding his glasses back on. "What do you want to do, Elena? Sue for divorce? Settle for a hundred million in asset division? We can bleed Nexo Urbano dry and leave them broken."
"I don't want a settlement, Sérgio," I said, my voice dropping into a tone of absolute, unyielding resolve. "I want the entire Vance empire. I want Aegis Capital, I want their industrial shipping corridors, and I want Marcelo Vance standing in front of a federal judge answering for thirty years of racketeering, corporate espionage, and extortion."
Dr. Moraes stared at me for three long seconds, a slow, predatory grin spreading across his weathered face.
"Well then," he said, reaching for his desk phone. "Let’s start a war."
For the next two weeks, the financial underworld of São Paulo experienced an earthquake of unprecedented magnitude.
Using the cryptographic keys and wire transfer logs from the hard drive, Dr. Moraes’s team coordinated covertly with the Brazilian Federal Police (Polícia Federal) and the Securities Commission (CVM). We didn't file a civil lawsuit; we executed a synchronized, multi-jurisdictional surprise attack.
Federal agents raided the headquarters of Aegis Capital Partners at dawn on a rainy Thursday, seizing physical servers, freezing forty-six offshore bank accounts, and executing emergency arrest warrants for three senior managing directors—including Marcelo Vance’s personal legal counsel.
At the same time, Dr. Moraes filed an emergency injunction in the Federal Court of São Paulo, petitioning for the immediate freezing of all Vance family holding assets, citing systemic racketeering and fraudulent manipulation of public procurement contracts.

And as for Nexo Urbano?
As the majority co-founder holding undisputed intellectual property rights and uncontaminated voting shares, I was officially appointed sole interim CEO by emergency judicial decree.
