Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Emerald TruthIn late September 2026, ten months after that terrifying night in the alley, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Tessa Bennett Heritage & Justice Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
On a private velvet pedestal near the presentation podium rested the silver USB drive—the very drive that had brought an empire of corruption to its knees.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was Don Vincent Vance.
Beside him stood Donna Tessa Bennett-Vance, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her graceful figure, her hazel eyes glowing with complete happiness.
Around my neck hung my late father’s restored gold signet pendant.
Vincent adjusted the microphone, his deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Ten months ago, two arrogant cowards beat my wife, dumped her in a freezing alley, and told the world she was losing her mind," Vincent announced to the silent room, his storm-gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at me. "And on that night, a brave queen pulled a silver drive from the dark, shattered a murder conspiracy, claimed her sovereign birthright, and brought my entire world back to the light."
Vincent held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
