Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Grand ConcourseAt 10:00 a.m. the following morning, the soaring mahogany assembly hall atop the forty-story Manhattan Financial Center was packed to absolute capacity.

Over four hundred prominent real estate magnates, commercial shipping directors, municipal judges, and high-society investors gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual New York Maritime & Commercial Assembly.
Sitting near the head of the raised executive table, wearing an expensive designer suit, holding a gold pen, was thirty-two-year-old Colin Avery. Beside him sat his arrogant father, Victor Avery, and his new socialite fiancée, Vanessa Vance, smirking as they prepared to sign corporate takeover documents to liquidate the Blackwood berths.
Colin’s face wore a practiced expression of arrogant triumph as he addressed the audience into the microphone:
"Gentlemen!" Colin announced smoothly, his voice dripping with false authority, "today we ratify the administrative expansion of Avery Global Grocery, absorbing the maritime berths of the Blackwood estate—"
BOOM!
The heavy double oak doors of the executive assembly hall were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!
The chatter of four hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.
Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Don Dominic Blackwood.
He wore a dark charcoal bespoke suit, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.
And walking right beside him, supported by his strong arm, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated her graceful figure, her dark hair falling in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes burning with absolute, sovereign victory... was Donna Grace Bennett-Blackwood.
Around my neck hung the fifty-carat emerald signet pendant of the Blackwood Dynasty, my posture regal, my presence dominating the entire room.
Colin Avery dropped his gold pen.
CRASH!
The heavy metal pen clattered flat against the mahogany table, rolling onto the floor as his face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Vanessa Vance stood up so fast she knocked her champagne glass over onto her crimson train.
"C-COLIN...?! DOMINIC BLACKWOOD?! GRACE?!" Colin stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the window. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! SHE IS JUST A PENNILESS BAKER!"
"She isn't a penniless baker, Colin," Dominic Blackwood announced flatly, his clear, deep baritone carrying cleanly across the silent hall, dropping the temperature to zero. "She is the Executive Chairwoman of the Blackwood-Bennett Heritage Trust... my legal wife, and the sole owner of your entire grocery chain."
Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Colin Avery’s trembling hands:
TOTAL MARITIME & COMMERCIAL RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the Blackwood Trust Deeds, transferring 100% controlling equity directly to Chairwoman Grace Bennett-Blackwood, Leo, Noah, and Lily Blackwood.
ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Colin Avery, Victor Avery, and Vanessa Vance for Premeditated Child Abduction Conspiracy, Forgery, Extortion, and $200 Million Wire Fraud.
IMMEDIATE EVICTION & ASSET FREEZE: Total forfeiture of all personal properties, luxury vehicles, and bank accounts registered under Avery Enterprises.
"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Colin shrieked, thrashing wildly as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "GRACE, YOU LOVED ME! YOU CAN'T SACRIFICE ME FOR A MAFIA BOSS!"
"You threw me away three days before our wedding because of flour on my sleeve, Colin," Grace corrected deadpan, stepping beside Dominic, wrapping her arm around his waist, leaning flush against his solid side. "Now you watch my empire rise."
