Chapter 3 - The Unraveling of the LieJudge Margaret Sterling—a formidable, seventy-year-old jurist known for her zero-tolerance policy toward perjury—took her seat on the bench.

"Mr. Vance, Mrs. Vance," Judge Sterling began, her sharp eyes scanning the emergency petition documents filed by my family's high-priced attorney, Harrison Vance. "You have requested an immediate, non-bailable civil commitment for your daughter, Tessa Vance, citing severe violent instability and delusional behavior."
"Yes, Your Honor," Harrison Vance interjected smoothly, standing up and smoothing his tailored suit. "My clients suffered a brutal attack at the hands of their daughter four days ago. We have sworn affidavits from all three family members, along with medical reports detailing Mrs. Vance's injuries."
"Your Honor," Bridget Colton spoke up, standing erect and unbothered at our table. "Before the court considers this petition, we request permission to present secondary physical evidence under Rule 404 regarding the petitioners' credibility."
"Objection!" Harrison barked, his forehead suddenly beading with sweat. "This is an emergency mental health hearing! Secondary evidence is irrelevant!"
"Overruled," Judge Sterling declared flatly. "I will hear the evidence."
Bridget stepped forward, connecting her laptop to the courtroom's primary projection system.
The lights in the courtroom dimmed automatically.
The massive high-definition monitor mounted on the wall lit up, displaying a crisp, crystal-clear video file.
It wasn't a recording of a manic episode. It was the high-resolution footage captured by my hidden camera in the kitchen four nights ago.
The entire courtroom gasped in utter, horror-stricken shock.
On the screen, my father held my arms pinned behind my back while my mother struck me repeatedly with a heavy brass candlestick. And standing two feet away, holding her smartphone with a dark, cruel sneer on her face, was Emma.
The audio played through the courtroom speakers, loud and unedited:
“Look at you, Tessa,” Emma’s recorded voice echoed, followed by her distinct, cruel laugh. “Your misery makes me happy.”
The video continued, showing my limp, unconscious body being dragged toward the garage by my father, while my mother wiped my blood from the kitchen tile with a towel.
The courtroom descended into absolute, chaotic pandemonium. Reporters gasped, typing furiously on their laptops, while onlookers shouted in disgust.
Eleanor fell back into her chair, her face contorted in wild, desperate terror as she grabbed her lawyer's arm. "Turn it off! Turn it off! That's fake! It's an AI fabrication!"
Richard stood frozen, his mouth opening and closing like a dying fish, his hands shaking uncontrollably as he looked at the federal agents standing near the exit doors.

Judge Sterling slammed her gavel down three times with thunderous force. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"SILENCE IN THIS COURTROOM!" Judge Sterling roared, her face flushed with pure, unadulterated fury as she fixed her gaze on my family. "Mr. Vance, Mrs. Vance... you didn't file a mental health petition. You attempted to use this court to cover up an attempted murder!"
