Chapter 2 - The Fall from Grace BeginsBack at the gala, the live string quartet swelled into a dramatic crescendo as the keynote speech approached. Spencer stepped up to the podium, adjusting his microphone with an air of absolute invincibility. Flashbulbs popped from every angle; local media outlets were broadcasting the event live across the state.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Spencer began, his voice resonant and commanding. "Tonight celebrates not just profitability, but vision. Conway Enterprises stands at the pinnacle of industry because we choose alliances that elevate us—partnerships defined by absolute perfection."

In the front row, Paisley smiled radiantly, assuming she was the focal point of his grand speech.

Suddenly, the massive LED screens behind the stage flickered. The presentation slides of quarterly earnings vanished, replaced by a stark, flashing red warning signal. A low, electronic hum echoed through the state-of-the-art sound system.

Spencer paused, frowning at the tech crew in the back. "Fix that immediately."

Before a technician could touch a console, the screens cut to a stark white background. Bold, unyielding black text appeared across the display: AUDIT NOTICE: CONWAY ENTERPRISES LIQUIDITY COLLAPSE IN PROGRESS.

A collective gasp swept through the ballroom. Whispers erupted like wildfire. Spencer's face drained of color. He gripped the edges of the podium so hard his knuckles turned white.

"This is a technical glitch," Spencer forced a tight, nervous laugh into the microphone, though his voice shook. "Security, clear the screens—"

"It's not a glitch, Mr. Conway," a sharp, clear voice echoed from the grand double doors at the entrance of the ballroom.

The heavy oak doors swung open. Stepping into the light was not a hacker or a disgruntled employee, but Marcus Vance, the ruthless senior partner of Harrell Holdings’ legal division, flanked by four federal financial regulators and local enforcement.

The room fell into a terrified, dead silence.
