Chapter 6 - The Festival of Red ShoesIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Sophie Bennett Red Shoe Civic & Pediatric Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Dante Moretti. His broad six-foot-three frame was squared, his severe, handsome face radiating an unshakeable, sovereign authority and a profound, radiant peace.
Beside him stood six-year-old Sophie, looking like a little princess in a silver lace dress, proudly wearing her favorite red shoes.
And standing on Dante’s right, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated my tall, graceful figure, holding Dante's hand with a warm, unbreakable grip, was me.
Dante adjusted the microphone, his deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"One year ago, a brave six-year-old girl asked me to rescue her stolen shoes in Boston Common," Dante announced to the silent room, his gray eyes shining with deep, genuine pride as he looked down at Sophie and me. "And she taught me that true royalty isn't built on fear... it is earned through truth, protection, and unbroken love."
Dante held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
