Chapter 2 - The Audit of the Lost TrustBy 8:00 PM, three heavy black armored SUVs stood guard along our quiet South Boston street.

Inside our small living room, Senior Managing Partner Bridget Colton—Boston’s premier corporate litigator—sat at our kitchen table alongside Chief Security Director Marcus Vance.

Bridget opened three thick leather binders bound in red seals, sliding high-definition forensic accounting ledgers flat onto the table toward Dante, my father, and me.

"Claire, my dear," Bridget spoke softly, her sharp blue eyes holding profound professional fury. "The financial audit of the Moretti Maritime Trust is absolute."

"What did Victor steal, Bridget?" Dante asked flatly, standing beside my chair, his hand resting over the back of my seat.

"Over twenty-three years," Bridget revealed, tapping the ledgers:

EMBEZZLEMENT: Victor Moretti diverted $140 million from the Bennett Maritime Equity account to fund private luxury estates in Martha’s Vineyard and Miami.

THE FRAMING OF THOMAS BENNETT: Victor forged a fake Montreal death certificate for Thomas to prevent the courts from ever executing an estate audit.

THE SOVEREIGN RIGHTS: Because Thomas Bennett is alive, his forty percent equity in the South Boston Docks remains 100% legally valid, valued today at over $260 million.

I swallowed hard, looking up at Dante in absolute disbelief. "Two hundred and sixty million dollars...?"

"It belongs to you and your father, Claire," Dante said softly, his slate-gray eyes locking onto mine with an absolute, unshakeable truth. "And tomorrow morning, my uncle will answer for every single penny he stole from your family."

My father rested his hand over mine, his eyes glistening with quiet tears. "I never cared about the money, Claire. I only wanted you to walk down the street without being afraid of the Moretti name."

Dante looked at my father, then bowed his head in a deep, formal gesture of respect.

"Thomas," Dante declared smoothly, his baritone dropping into an iron register. "You gave my father his justice. Tomorrow, I give your daughter her throne."
