Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Grand BallroomAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the soaring mahogany assembly hall atop the forty-story Manhattan Financial Center was packed to absolute capacity.

Over four hundred prominent real estate magnates, shipping directors, municipal judges, and syndicate capos gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual North Atlantic Logistics Assembly.

Sitting at the head of the raised executive table, wearing a tailored dark suit, holding a silver pen, was fifty-eight-year-old Dante Moretti. Beside him sat his corrupt partner, Richard Sterling-Smith, smirking as they prepared to sign corporate buyout documents to liquidate Lorenzo’s shipping berths.

"Gentlemen!" Dante announced smoothly into the central microphone, his voice dripping with false authority, "today we ratify the administrative takeover of the Moretti Logistics Berths due to my late nephew's unfortunate permanent medical incapacity—"

BOOM!

The heavy double oak doors of the executive assembly hall were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!

The chatter of four hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.

Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Don Lorenzo Moretti.

He wore a dark bespoke charcoal suit, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.

And walking right beside him, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated her graceful figure, her dark hair falling in glossy waves, holding her three-year-old daughter Mia by her hand, was Donna Clara Bennett-Moretti.

Little Mia wore a white velvet dress with a red bow, holding her gray plush rabbit proudly.

Dante Moretti dropped his silver pen.

CRASH!

The heavy pen clattered flat against the mahogany table, rolling onto the floor as his face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Richard Sterling-Smith stood up so fast he knocked his leather chair backward against the wall.

"D-DANTE...?! LORENZO?! CLARA?!" Richard stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the window. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN A COMA!"

"I'm not in a coma, Dante," Lorenzo announced flatly, his deep baritone carrying cleanly across the silent hall, dropping the temperature to zero. "And ten minutes ago, federal marshals seized every bank account registered under your shell companies."

Dante Moretti’s eyes widened in total, catatonic terror.

Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Dante Moretti’s trembling hands:

TOTAL MARITIME RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the Moretti Trust Deeds, transferring sixty percent controlling common stock equity directly to Don Lorenzo Moretti and Chairwoman Clara Bennett-Moretti.

ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Dante Moretti and Richard Sterling-Smith for Attempted Premeditated Murder, Medical Sabotage, Extortion, Forgery, and $150 Million Wire Fraud.

IMMEDIATE EVICTION: Total forfeiture of all personal properties, luxury vehicles, and bank accounts registered under Dante's shell companies.

"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Dante shrieked, thrashing wildly as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "LORENZO, I AM YOUR UNCLE! YOU CAN'T SACRIFICE ME FOR A MAID AND HER BASTARD!"

"She isn't a maid, Dante," Lorenzo corrected deadpan, stepping beside Clara and Mia, wrapping his broad, warm arm securely around Clara's waist, pulling her frame flush against his solid side. "She is the Matriarch of the Moretti Dynasty. And she owns your life."
