Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Golden StrategyIn late September 2026, ten months after that fateful night when he awoke, the grand auditorium of the Plaza Hotel in Boston was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Nora Hayes Heritage & Corporate Integrity Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

On a private velvet pedestal near the presentation podium rested a vintage, leather-bound copy of The Art of War—the very book I had read to Dominic during his eighty-nine days of darkness.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, his broad six-foot-four frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was Don Dominic Vale.

Beside him stood Donna Nora Hayes-Vale, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her graceful figure, her hazel eyes glowing with complete happiness.

Around my neck hung my late father's restored gold signet pendant.

Dominic adjusted the microphone, his deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Ten months ago, I lay in a dark room, eighty-nine days away from death, until a brave young woman placed her hand on my forehead, whispered a single word, and saved my soul," Dominic announced to the silent room, his storm-gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at me. "And on that night, she shattered a traitor's conspiracy, claimed her sovereign birthright, and brought my entire world back to the light."

Dominic held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my Chairwoman, my savior, and the queen of my heart: Donna Nora Hayes-Vale!"

"To Nora!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
