Chapter 7 - A New DynastyFive years later, the lawn of the Lake Geneva estate echoed with the bright, joyous sound of children’s laughter.

Two four-year-old twins—a boy with his father’s striking dark hair and sharp eyes, and a girl with her mother’s radiant smile and gentle spirit—were chasing a golden retriever across the manicured emerald grass toward the shoreline.
Lena stood on the shaded stone veranda, wearing a simple linen summer dress, a cup of iced tea resting in her hand.
A pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a warm, solid chest. A chin rested comfortably on her shoulder.
“They’re going to wear that dog out before lunch,” Dante murmured, pressing a soft kiss against the side of her neck.
Lena smiled, leaning back into his embrace as she watched their children play in the afternoon sun. Dante looked different now—the sharp, predatory edge of the underworld king had softened into the relaxed, grounded warmth of a devoted father and husband. He had made good on his promise; the syndicate ran itself through trusted delegates while he spent his days right where he belonged—protecting his family from the quiet safety of the lake house.
“Let them run,” Lena laughed softly, turning in his arms to face him. “They have your energy. God help us when they reach their teens.”
Dante grinned, his dark eyes sparkling with genuine happiness as he wrapped both arms around her waist, pulling her flush against him.
“We’ll handle it,” he said, his voice dropping into that familiar, velvet register that still made her heart skip a beat. “Together.”
Lena reached up, her fingers tracing the clean, unblemished line of his jaw before resting her hand against his cheek.
“You know,” she whispered with a playful smirk, “for the most feared mafia boss in Chicago, you’re awfully soft when it comes to bedtime stories.”
Dante chuckled, leaning down to press his lips softly against hers in a sweet, lingering kiss that tasted of home, peace, and a future they had fought tooth and nail to secure.
“Only for my favorite audience,” he murmured against her lips.

Out on the lawn, their son let out a joyful shout as the golden retriever tumbled over in the grass, and the little girl squealed with delight, running straight toward the veranda where their parents stood wrapped in each other's arms.
The past was buried. The empire was secure. And as Dante lifted both children into his arms with a laugh that echoed across the lake, Lena knew that the greatest victory of her life wasn't walking away from a broken marriage—it was building a real one from the ashes.
